Student’s Project Collaboration - 2024
Program Product Design Engineering, BINUS ASO School of Engineering, Binus University dengan Nanyang Polytechnic

Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in Singapore, through the BINUS International unit, offers ten students from the Program Product Design Engineering the opportunity to participate in the Temasek Foundation Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange (TF SCALE) 2024 program. This four-week program is scheduled to take place in Singapore from March 3 to March 16, 2024, and in Jakarta from March 19 to March 29, 2024.

During the TF SCALE 2024 program, students from Nanyang Polytechnic and the program Product Design Engineering collaborate to research and discuss sustainability issues and develop collaborative projects related to Circular Design, Circular Economy, and Sustainability in Singapore. Throughout the program, the students engage in research, discussions, and the formulation of action plans to address regional issues connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the current creative fashion industry.

The students also gain insights from the industry and participate in community service activities with Cloop and Commenhers, companies operating in the fashion industry in Singapore. The students are challenged to develop collaborative projects on topics provided by Commenhers, a sustainable fashion company aligned with the industry's trend toward sustainability and social responsibility. The best prototypes will be integrated into the Commenhers collection and launched at the end of 2024.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to explore the campuses at Nanyang Polytechnic and Raffles Design Institute, gaining valuable insights from Anisa Sia Johnny, a senior lecturer at Raffles Design Institute, along with Chevady Chang, Jiehong, and George, senior lecturers at Nanyang Polytechnic. The students also engaged in hands-on workshops with Makerspace and Gin Lee Studio. During the Gin Lee workshop, they directly crafted bags featuring unique folding motifs using cardboard and the evaporation method.

Following these enriching experiences, the students conducted exhibition activities and delivered a final presentation to Commenhers as the representative industry body to solicit feedback. This process enriched their learning and provided deep insights into environmental preservation and the development of environmentally friendly products.
