Introduction

As a fundamental science in engineering, Physics serves as a foundation for understanding subsequent engineering disciplines for students at the School of Engineering. Physical laws are expressions of phenomena observed in nature through experimental observations. Physics laboratory experiments give students the chance to observe and explore these phenomena directly. Thus, laboratory sessions are an essential part of a fundamental physics course. This Physics laboratory enables students to apply their physics knowledge by conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and writing laboratory reports.

Equipment and Facility

LRC Circuit Experiment. A series product for examining the response of a series LRC circuit with various driving frequencies. This complete solution is designed to use PASCO capstone software. A set of LRC circuit experiments includes resistor capacitor inductor network, unshrouded voltage sensor, banana plug cord sets, and unshrouded BNC function generator output cable.

LRC Circuit Experiment. The complete solution for exploring the variables, such as conductor length, current, magnetic field strength, and angle, that affect magnetic force. A set of this experiment consists basic current balance, current balance accessory kit, Ohaus cent-O-gram balance, low voltage AC/DC power supply, base and support rod, and banana plug cord sets.

Heat Engine Cycles Experiment. This set is used to measure the efficiency of a real heat engine and compare it to the efficiency of an ideal heat engine. It includes heat engine and gas law apparatus, large rod base, mass and hanger set, plastic tub, thread, stainless-steel rod, rotary motion sensor, and quad temperature sensor.

Faraday’s Law of Induction Experiment. A set of products used to examine Faraday's law of induction and Lenz’s law of electromagnetic induction. The dissipated energy in a load resistor is compared to the loss of energy of the coil pendulum. This complete experiment consists of an induction wand, large rod base, stainless-steel rod, multi-clamp, unshrouded voltage sensor, two-axis magnetic field sensor, rotary motion sensor, and variable gap magnet.
