BINUS-ASO Automotive Robotics Engineering program equips the students with excellent abilities highly required in global automotive and robotic industries.

Today’s digital era calls for comprehensive skills and excellent abilities to compete in many global engineering industries. One of them is the outstanding career paths you can pursue in the increasingly growing automotive and robotics fields.

BINUS has joined hands with a Japanese ASO College Group to respond to global engineering demands and challenges and established a School of Engineering, hence BASE. The collaboration provides the students with state-of-arts comprehensive approaches and facilities in the engineering spectrum.

BINUS ASO School of Engineering (BASE)

BINUS UNIVERSITY (Indonesia) collaborates with ASO College Group of Automotive Engineering and Technology (Japan) to establish BINUS ASO School of Engineering, hence BASE.

The main objective is to produce excellent quality graduates to enter regional and global engineering industries and pursue their career paths. The school engages the students in courses that combine theory and practical experience with updated, advanced technology facilities.

The BASE provides two programs: Product Design Engineering and Automotive Robotics Engineering. Both programs emphasize a state-of-arts method to respond to the global needs of those fields.

In addition to Indonesian, the majority of the courses are in English, delivered by both internationally qualified Japanese and Indonesian lecturers. The students also have the opportunity to learn the Japanese language.

The teaching and learning processes promote the concept of an interactive Japanese cultural environment. It motivates the students to be deep thinkers and be more independent—not to mention various up-to-date and complete campus facilities.

BASE implements an international curriculum that delivers hands-on expertise and first-rate student preparation to function further in many professional settings. Also, the school gives a lot of opportunities to the students to obtain experience and apply their knowledge abroad. In this case, the students can join a summer course in Japan and complete an internship in Japanese or other multinational companies.

Okay, let’s check out more about one of the BASE programs, Automotive Robotics Engineering.

Automotive and Robotics Engineering (ARE)

ARE is leading in prioritizing industrial implementations (automotive and robotics) in today’s Digital Era through what-so-called AIoT – Artificial Intelligence of Things.

The courses in ARE give students several abilities upon graduating, such as the required basics in science, computer, and mechanical engineering. They go along with more focused skills in automotive, robotics, and automation system development.

Seven COREs in this program allow the students to analyze, design and build automated electronic systems and intelligent machines. They are essential for intelligent automotive systems, intelligent manufacturing processes, and intelligent home/building/city applications. Also, the students can use design tools widely employed in recent global industries.

In more detail, the programs enable the students to learn packs of technical skills as follows.

  • 2D and 3D modeling using Autocad® and CATIA®
  • prototyping
  • designing circuits for embedded systems,
  • assembly and C language programming for embedded systems
  • MATLAB® programming for digital signal processing and artificial intelligence
  • labVIEW® programming for control systems,
  • PLC programming
  • industrial robot programming
  • enterprise computer network design

In 2020, the Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT) granted BASE ARE (as part of the Computer Engineering program) with accreditation of "Unggul” – or, excellent.

Career Path Prospects

The above BASE ERA courses and abilities answer present and upcoming challenges in today’s Digital Era of Industry 4.0. Some skills globally high in demand are mechanical systems development and design in intelligent automotive systems, 3D tools, intelligent robotic systems, and computerized electronic systems.

Therefore, here is the list of prospective professions you can pursue by learning the abilities and skills in automotive and robotics engineering.

  • Advanced Driver Assistance-Systems Engineer
  • Autonomous Driving Engineer
  • Intelligent Robotics-Systems Engineer
  • Artificial Intelligence of Things Engineer
  • Data Science Engineer
  • Electric Vehicle Engineer
  • Quality Control Engineer
  • Technopreneur

It is worth putting here one of the objectives stated by the BINUS-ASO Automotive and Robotics Engineering Program. It expects the graduates can "adapt to methodologies, new technologies, and tools to respond to the rapidly changing world by continuously renewing and updating their knowledge throughout their careers.”
