Nineteen BINUS ASO School of Engineering students from the Automotive and Robotics Engineering and Product Design Engineering programs will depart to Malaysia on Wednesday, 24 April 2019, to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019. And for D’BASE, the name of their team, this competition is not only about proving their capabilities and gaining experience, but also carrying a mission to strengthen Indonesia’s name in the international scene.

Muhammad Iqbal, the Vice President and the second driver of the D’BASE team, explained that the preparation to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019 was initiated from 2016. The process to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2019 was started with selecting the team members, designing the car, raising funds, until they finally arrived at the final stage in 2019.

Through all this hard work, Iqbal wished that they can make Indonesia and BINUS proud. We want to make Indonesia proud in the international scene. We also wish the name of BINUS, especially BINUS ASO School of Engineering, to be more respected by the international community,” he said.

The Shell Eco-marathon is a unique global program for students pursuing science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. This competition provides these students with the opportunity to design and build ultra-energy-efficient cars, after which they take them out on to the track to compete.

Thanks to all the hard work the students have been putting, D’BASE will depart for Malaysia in April 2019 to compete with other teams from other countries. Through this competition, D’BASE also hopes to come up with new innovations that will make Indonesia proud.
