Introduction

Automotive & Robotics Engineering (ARE) Program provides students with the comprehensive engineering knowledge to engineer smart machines or computer systems for automotive, manufacturing and many other industries that can benefit from automation and artificial intelligence, in order to be competitive in the era of Industry 4.0 and also anticipating the upcoming Industry 5.0. The curriculum integrates the knowledge from electronics, software, and mechanical engineering, which form the main basis for the development of automated and intelligent machineries or computer systems.

In the third year, students have the flexibility to choose between the Intelligent Automotive or Intelligent Robotics concentrations, where they can learn more advanced topics in the respective areas. The Intelligent Automotive concentration will equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop intelligent vehicle systems, such as autonomous driving; while the Intelligent Robotics concentration will equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop advanced industrial automations, including data science.

The Program focuses on project-based approach in developing students’ ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems using various methodologies in the aforementioned three areas of engineering design. Projects are integrated to selected courses in all semesters, where students are trained not only to understand the theoretical concepts, but also to master the practical skills essential for tackling challenges, from basic scenarios to real-world industry cases.

Not less important than the development of students’ technical knowledge, is the nurturing of students’ soft skills. The Program mainly emphasize on the Binusian values, communication, leadership, discipline and adaptability throughout the 4-year study. The full-day-school in BINUS ASO School of Engineering allow us to engage with our students daily and personally in various situations to cultivate their characters. The routine team projects and student club/organization activities provide the suitable environment for our students to exercise their interpersonal and communication abilities under the supervision of lecturers.

Most of our graduates have worked in companies, enter graduate schools or build their own businesses in six months after their graduation, both in local and global institution/scope. Some of them are employed in variety of roles, including but not limited to, research & development engineers, product development engineers, quality control engineers, system engineers, production engineers, automated testing engineers, data scientists, application developers, software engineers and IT engineers; some other continue their study in engineering or business fields; and some of them have started their own business in the field of application development and engineering.
